Headline: Reform Or Lose Funds, Says WB
Description: The Nation, Nairobi: Kenya has been given three years to carry out reforms in the provision of extension services or lose World Bank funding for agricultural research.

The warning was given by Dr Karen Brooks, the World Bank Sector Manager for Rural Development Operations for the Eastern and South African Region. Dr Brooks was giving the keynote address during the 9th Kari Biennial Scientific Conference and the first Kenya Agricultural Research Forum at Kari headquarters yesterday.

She said that for the next three years, $110 million (Sh8.8 billion) was available under the Kenya Agricultural Production Programme (Kapp).

Agriculture minister Kipruto arap Kirwa said extension services were affected by natural attrition, reduction in the size of the government and rising demand.
